You may already know that creating backlinks to your website are important for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
This notion has been around for some time and is still a relevant SEO technique!
In a recent interview, Matt Cutts, Head of Google’s Webspam team, stated, “Links are still the best way that we’ve found to discover [how relevant or important a website is], and maybe over time social or authorship or other types of markup will give us a lot more information about that.”
But what you may not know, is how to properly build backlinks to your website!
So, to get your link building started, I have come up with a short list of pointers to help you out.
- Quality vs. Quantity
Spend your time wisely! Acquire backlinks from websites that are more trustworthy and have higher domain authority. It is way more beneficial to have a small amount of high authority backlinks than thousands of low authority backlinks.
- Diversify Your Website Backlinks
Research the directory sites available in your industry. Be selective! Find high quality, relevant directories and create company profiles on them. Don’t forget to include your website address!
- Contribute to the Conversation
Find well respected blogs in your field and truly contribute to the conversations. Post useful responses with links to relevant content on your site.
I hope these simple steps help you get started link building!
