Boxing for a Cause is our way of giving back to our community. Every month, Image in a Box donates to a local nonprofit picked by one of our team members. Due to recent events, Michelle chose to donate to the Heart of the Valley YMCA's COVID-19 Childcare Response Fund for March!
About the YMCA COVID-19 Childcare Response Fund
The Heart of the Valley YMCA has temporarily closed its doors to members and guests, but has opened them to provide a daycare just for the children of essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. This fund was created to help relieve low-income essential workers (nurses, grocery store employees, pharmacists, etc.) from having to pay for childcare costs. The childcare services are being offered at the Southeast Family YMCA and Hogan Family YMCA.
Why Michelle Chose the YMCA COVID-19 Childcare Response Fund
Michelle says,"I am still in shock with what is going on around us. As I am still trying to adjust to being abruptly urged to stay at home, I realize that my job is way simpler than the medical service providers, grocery store employees, and pharmacists that are our frontline defense against and care through the uncertainty that lies ahead."
She goes on to say,"And for a large percentage of these individuals, the care of their children while they are brave enough to be on the frontlines, should not be a concern they are up against. That is why I am picking the YMCA's COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund for this month's Boxing for a Cause pick. I hope that you will consider also helping their efforts during this crisis and time of uncertainty."
